Meet the Editors

 

Glenda Baker - Editor-in-Chief and Fiction Editor

Glenda Baker is the publisher and editor-in-chief of NEWN, a quarterly magazine, established in 1994, devoted to helping new writers get published and to teaching through content and example. She is a graduate of the Famous Writers School, Clark University, and the 2001 Maui Writer’s Retreat and is a member of the International Women’s Writing Guild and the New England chapter of Sisters in Crime.

Glenda was the first place winner in the 1995 Writer's World Fiction Contest, has placed in the top 100 personal essays and in the top 100 short stories in Writer's Digest Competitions.

She was second place winner the 2003 Worcester Magazine Short Story Contest and a judge for the 2004 Worcester Magazine Contest.

She taught basic composition and fiction writing for over ten years through the Assabet After Dark program in Marlborough.

Her personal essay "What to Name a Grandmother" appears in A Cup of Comfort for Grandparents, and her short story "Just Try Again" appears in Still Waters: Crime Stories by New England Writers published by Level Best Books November 2007. She is the author of Scattering the Fluff: Tales for the Twenty-first Century and Because It Works!: How-to Articles from New England Writers’ Network available in early 2008.

Judy Adourian - Executive Editor, Poetry, and Personal Essay Editor

Judy Adorian

Judy Adourian is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Colby-Sawyer College with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Her personal essays have been published in four editions of the A Cup of Comfort series, the book Grab Your Tiger, and in various magazines and newspapers. Judy teaches, critiques, and supports writers through her company Writeyes. She is also the Rhode Island Regional Representative for the International Women's Writing Guild.
